One of my favorite books, The Giver, has an upcoming movie adaptation. Yey! I can’t find any sites which give all the details yet. I’m not even sure if it’s going to be released this year or in 2008. The information aren’t very clear yet. But I’m excited to see it. I hope they do the book justice. It’s a really good book. Even if it’s originally written for children, I think a lot of people will appreciate it. Just tell me if you want to read it, I think I still have my copy with me! Hehe.

I’ve been waiting for the Last Mimzy as well, but this news of an upcoming The Giver movie blows it all away!

OH my god. A movie?! cool! I finished reading the book and i am still confused, did jonas and gabriel die at the end? Because if he dies Then I don’t want to see another movie with a death in it, otherwise, i really hope i get to see the movie in my english class! i bet the movie will be in black and white at first, though. I WANNA SEE DA MOVIE PLEASE!

the than gthat cofused me is that dident they wonder what was happening when they were relised beacause rosemarry desided to inject her self and the ending when they dident say if he lived or died…. this will be a good movie i bet

I don’t believe that Jonas and Gabriel die, becasue the Giver never gave Jonas the memory of music and right atthe ned he hears music mmmmmmm interesting !!!!

Omgosh….”released”: lol..I ALWAYS think of The Giver when I hear this word it’s an automatic. I can’t wait for the movie it’s my favorite book. I want to know who plays Jonas. He better be good.

My name is Melba Deas and i am in the sixth grade. My teacher just got done reading this book to us most of our class loved and didn’t want to put it down I was one of them. I didn’t think I would like this book but as we started to read it i liked it. I CAN NOT wait for the movie to come out it is probably better than the book. But anyways i can’t wait.

personally I was hoping to never see a movie for this beautiful book, because I’ve never had the experience of seeing a film do any kind of justice for anything I’ve read (their eyes were watching god,blood and chocolate, bridge to teribitha, 5 people you meet in heaven, a wrinkle in time) are all examples of wonderful books with brilliant authors and once hollywood got a hold of them they were downgraded to silly made for tv movies basically
I was hoping beyond hope that they wouldn’t do that with this one, guess i’ll have to wait and see….fingers crossed

No way!!! I loved the book!! I had to read it in my english class and everyone was like “Booo, a book”, but I liked it!!
I need to see how the ending is solved and everything, oh it will be SO EXITING!!

Hi! My comment is lightyears late, but it’s so cool they’re doing a movie of The Giver! I am in love with the book, and my sister is doing a play in Xavier for The Giver too. (The book is better though.
